With emphasis on environmental sustainability, public safety, and recreation, the Special Programs Department administers a variety of community programs designed to maintain Palm Desert’s quality of life. Some of these programs include:
- AB2766 Programs
- Citizens on Patrol
- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
- Mobile Home Park Rent Control
- Palm Desert Resident Golf Card
In addition, the Special Programs Department processes special events applications, coordinates City produced events such as the annual Independence Day Celebration and the Concerts in the Park, and oversees the City’s public utility franchise agreements, use of the Portola Community Center, and various solid waste and recycling programs.
