Nominations Open for 9th Annual ATHENA Awards

Palm Desert’s ATHENA Awards give the public an opportunity to recognize individuals who have achieved professional excellence, provided meaningful community service, and assisted women in reaching their full leadership potential. Nominations are now being accepted for this prestigious award.

Awards in the Corporate Business and Entrepreneurial categories will be presented at a luncheon on Wednesday, October 20, at Palm Valley Country Club. Past local ATHENA Award recipients have included Sonia Campbell, Jean Ann Hirschi, Betty Barker, Pattie Daly Caruso, Norine Bowen, Deborah McGarrey, Patti Gribow, Dr. Monica Khanna, Jeannette Banoczi, Judith Ann “Judee” Cox, Amy Ammons, Kathi Jacobs, DoeDee Rover, and Kathy Strong. Last year’s honorees were Joan Busick and Kajsa Thuresson-Frary.

Nominations must be submitted to City Hall by Friday, July 30. Nomination forms  and instructions may be obtained at the Palm Desert Visitor Center, 72-567 Highway 111; City Hall, 73-510 Fred Waring Drive; or by calling 346-0611, ext. 488.
